Purpose The University’s work force consists of faculty, staff and student employees. Policy 1) Faculty employees are:
Note: Faculty employees with administrative assignments at or above department chair are not eligible to participate in the election of faculty representatives, or serve as the elected faculty representative, to faculty governance bodies above the college level (for example, but not limited to, Board of Trustees, University Senate, Graduate Council, Undergraduate Council, and Health Care Colleges Council). Chairs and directors may run for election and serve in the University Senate as an elected representative of their constituent faculty, if their administrative service as chair or director concludes before the term of their service as a University Senator commences. Note: When required for certain administrative or reporting purposes, faculty employees with an administrative assignment of 50% or more will be reported as staff employees. Note: For employee benefits purposes, faculty employees with an administrative assignment retain faculty benefits as defined in AR II-1.1-7 and GR X. 2) Staff employees are any employee of the University except:
3) Employees whose primary official status is that of a student are student employees. Student employees are temporary employees. A student employee is generally paid out of funds designated for student wages. Employee Type Employees are either regular or temporary. All staff employment is at will.
Employee Full Time Equivalency (FTE) 1) All employees (faculty, regular and temporary staff employees) are defined by the number of hours worked in a normal work week.
Definition "Full-time Equivalent" (FTE) indicates the portion or percentage of an employee's work schedule. Ex. 1.0 FTE = 100%, 0.75 FTE = 75%, 0.5 FTE = 50%, etc. Process Human Resources establishes employment status in accordance with Human Resources Policy and Procedure, University Governing Regulations and University Administrative Regulations.
