The University Of Kentucky and Human Resource Services would like to introduce Targeted Selection, an interviewing selection system by Development Dimensions International (DDI). Targeted Selection (TS) is an interviewing system designed to find the most qualified, best-fit person for your position. Targeted Selection offers you a method to interview each candidate using the same questions and the same format to obtain measurable results. The results can then be compared among applicants in order to make a hiring decision that is right for you and your department. The Targeted Selection Administrator is here to demonstrate the benefits of using Targeted Selection and to teach you how to use the interview system. The administrator will be glad to set up an informational meeting with you. Also, you are encouraged to attend one of our training workshops to learn more about Targeted Selection and become a certified interviewer.
Targeted Selection is based on the principle of “Past Behavior Predicts Future Behavior.” It is a behavioral-based interviewing process. Targeted Selection has two main components, dimensions and the selection system. Dimensions describe the competencies the candidate must possess and be able to perform in order to be successful at the prospective job. It also includes their motivations and what types of environments they like to work in. A candidate’s motivations are often the best predictor of “job fit.” A job analysis is performed for each position in order to determine the dimensions and the motivation questions that should be used in the interview. The Selection System is one that should be used in a systematic way with all candidates and positions in your department. If you do not have one set up, or would like to revamp your current system, the TS Administrator can help you design a system that will best serve your department.
