SMOKE FREE CAMPUS EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 19, 2009
The University of Kentucky has a long-standing commitment to the health and well-being of our students, employees & visitors. Our goal is to be a role model for communities, individuals & workplaces that are looking to create a healthier Commonwealth.
Starting November 19, 2009, the University of Kentucky will become completely tobacco-free. UK HealthCare launched a similar initiative in November 2008 which continues to be a success. This tobacco-free policy prohibits the use of all tobacco products (cigarettes, chew, pipes, cigars, snuff, etc.) on all campus grounds and parking areas.

The STEPS Service fee is 15% starting July 1st, 2009. With external staffing agency service fees for temporary recruitment and payroll services ranging from 25 - 50%, HR Temporary Employment is pleased to announce that our current fee for recruitment and payroll services is 15%. The fee includes a 6.35% administrative fee, a 7.65% FICA (Social Security and Medicare) fee, and a 1.0% miscellaneous fringe benefits fee.

Emergency Notification System - The University of Kentucky has an emergency notification system, UK Alert, to communicate official information during an emergency or crisis situation that disrupts normal operation of the campus or threatens the health or safety of members of the campus community. UK employees and students can sign up to receive for automatic phone and or email alerts. Sever weather closings or delays will also be broadcast via the system. PES requirement for new HR Temporary Employees - All new HR Temporary Employment employees are required to complete the PNBC when initially hired. Effective January 5, 2009 all New HR Temporary Employment employees hired for positions in UK Chandler Hospital and/or Good Samaritan Hospital must also complete the PDS. New HR Temporary Employment employees are considered "contingent" hires based upon the successful completion of the PNBC and/or PDS and may start a position before results have been received in Human Resources.
