July 2009
The STEPS Service fee is 15% starting July 1st, 2009. With external staffing agency service fees for temporary recruitment and payroll services ranging from 25 - 50%, HR Temporary Employment is pleased to announce that our current fee for recruitment and payroll services is 15%. The fee includes a 6.35% administrative fee, a 7.65% FICA (Social Security and Medicare) fee, and a 1.0% miscellaneous fringe benefits fee.

Emergency Notification System - The University of Kentucky has an emergency notification system, UK Alert, to communicate official information during an emergency or crisis situation that disrupts normal operation of the campus or threatens the health or safety of members of the campus community. UK employees and students can sign up to receive for automatic phone and or email alerts. Sever weather closings or delays will also be broadcast via the system. January 2009
PES requirement for new HR Temporary Employees - All new HR Temporary Employment employees are required to complete the PNBC when initially hired. Effective January 5, 2009 all New HR Temporary Employment employees hired for positions in UK Chandler Hospital and/or Good Samaritan Hospital must also complete the PDS. New HR Temporary Employment employees are considered "contingent" hires based upon the successful completion of the PNBC and/or PDS and may start a position before results have been received in Human Resources. November 2008
As of November 20, 2008, UK HealthCare has made the commitment that there will be no tobacco use permitted in or on any UK HealthCare facility or grounds. This new policy includes all regular, temporary, and student employees. For more information visit the UK HealthCare tobacco-free policy page.
