HR Temporary Employment Orientation

All new HR Temporary Employment employees are required to attend an orientation class once hired for a position. A Temporary Employment Specialist will schedule a class for each new temporary employee. HR Temporary Employment employees are paid for time spent in class and should not include the hours attended on their department timesheets. Orientation covers the following UK programs:

  • HIPAA

The federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996, along with state law, mandates the privacy and security of Protected Health Information (PHI). All HR Temporary Employment employees working in the University Hospital, Medical Center, and Kentucky Clinics are required to complete training in HIPAA responsibilities and requirements. HR Temporary Employment employees will receive HIPAA training in HR Temporary Employment Orientation.

Any HR Temporary Employment employee who transfers from a campus position must complete HIPAA training prior to beginning a medical center position. An individual HIPAA training session may be scheduled by calling (859) 257-3330.

For more information, please visit the UK HIPAA Web site.

  • OSHA

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) program is required for all UK employees. HR Temporary Employment employees view the "UK Safety and You" video in orientation.
