About Body Shop Fitness

 

What is Body Shop Fitness?

Through Body Shop Fitness, UK Health & Wellness provides a range of fitness options at very attractive rates for employees, retirees, spouses and sponsored dependents. Body Shop Fitness membership includes access to two fitness facilities, Group Fitness Classes, one-on-one exercise consultations, and training information.

Who can join?

All UK employees, retirees, spouses and sponsored dependents are eligible for Body Shop Fitness. You can join any facility or group exercise class at any time. Join today!

Where are the Body Shop facilities and what are the hours?

Body Shop Fitness offers two conveniently located facilities — Seaton Center gym (south campus) and Alumni gym (north campus).

The Body Shop at Alumni Gym features more than 15 pieces of cardio equipment; more than 25 pieces of Nautilus strength training circuit; free weights; and locker rooms for day use.

The Body Shop at Seaton Center features more than 10 pieces of cardio equipment; complete Kieser strength training circuit; more than 25 pieces of weight training equipment; and free weights.

Can I rent a locker?

Seaton: Full locker rental available for $5/month via payroll deduction or half lockers available for day use. (Stop by 116A Seaton Center to rent a locker in Seaton.)

Alumni: Locker rental is $5 per month for full locker and $2.50 per month for half locker, paid via payroll deduction for UK employees and their spouses. (Retirees and BCTC employees ONLY may pay with cash or check.) There is a minimum three-month rental period.

Currently, all lockers at Alumni Gym Body Shop are rented. Please sign up for the waiting list by calling the Main Health & Wellness Office at 257-9355(WELL). Full and half lockers are available for daily use as well.

How much does it cost?

The fee for Body Shop Fitness will be deducted from your UK employee paycheck at the rate of $7 per month or $3.50 per biweekly period and includes all Group Fitness Classes as well as one-on-one exercise consultations to help you get started with an exercise program or enhance your current program. Complete and return the payroll deduction form.

Retirees and retiree spouses ONLY: We now accept Visa and MasterCard debit/credit card payments online! Click the "Payment Options" tab at the top of the webpage. Retirees and their spouses may also pay with check or cash. Be sure to complete this RETIREE enrollment form.

Where can I park?

 Parking Structure #7, located at the corner of Sports Center Drive (Jerry Claiborne Way) accommodates employees and visitor pay parking. The structure is also open to any user with a valid UK permit after 3:30 p.m. The structure is open from 5:30 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Visitor pay parking is $2 for both the first and second hours and $1 for each additional hour, with a $10 per day maximum charge.

A "Restricted Parking Permit" is available for those Body Shop members who do not have a valid UK permit and can be purchased at the Parking Office. For more information, call (859) 257-5757. The restricted parking permit allows you to park in the VA structure (directly across University Dr. from Seaton Center) or the small student center lot (located behind Alumni Gym) or the parking lot in between Memorial Coliseum and the New North Hall.

What Group Fitness Classes are offered?

All Body Shop Group Fitness Classes are included with your Body Shop membership. Classes are offered at locations around campus for your convenience. Group Fitness Classes are a fun option and a great way to prevent workout boredom. Get your body in top shape with classes such as Body Bootcamp, Aqua Jog, Zumba dance, and Deep Water Works. Make the mind/body connection through classes such as Yogilates, Yoga, and Tai Chi.

You must be a Body Shop member with a valid key tag number, in order to register for classes. For a current schedule and to register for classes, visit the Web site.

How do I enroll in Body Shop Fitness?

1. New members: Call 257-3772 to schedule a Health & Fitness Consultation (HFC). You cannot enroll without one. The HFC consists of a health history assessment and measurement of height, weight, blood pressure, and heart rate. Physician clearance may be required for individuals with health risks.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your HFC, please call 257-3772.

Returning members: You may need a new Health Fitness Consultation (HFC), if you have not had one within the past year. You can find out the date of your last HFC by calling (859) 257-9355.

2. Employees and spouses/sponsored dependents please complete and return the Payroll Deduction Form to: UK Health & Wellness, 116A Seaton Center, Lexington, KY 40506-0219.

Retirees and retiree spouses ONLY: We now accept Visa and MasterCard debit/credit card payments online! Click the "Payment Options" tab at the top of the webpage. Retirees and their spouses may also pay with check or cash. Complete and return the Retiree Enrollment Form and payment to: UK Health & Wellness, 116A Seaton Center, Lexington, KY 40506-0219. (Please make checks payable to UK Health & Wellness. If paying with cash, please bring exact amount. Change may not be available. )

3. Your photo will be taken and you will be issued a key tag, or your key tag will be updated. Access will not be granted to the fitness facilities or Group Fitness Classes without your key tag.

Please note: Only University of Kentucky employees, retirees, spouses, and sponsored dependents are eligible for UK Health & Wellness services and programs. Central Kentucky Medical Services (CKMS) employees are also eligible.
