Payroll Deduction

Beginning in September 2008, Body Shop Fitness will collect membership fees via payroll deduction. Payroll deduction is required for ALL UK employees and their spouses/sponsored dependents.  Current members: It’s easy to make the switch. Just complete and return this form to us by Friday, August 15, 2008 to ensure continuation of your membership. Want more details? Please read the FAQ.

Retirees and retiree spouses will continue to pay by check or cash and complete the RETIREE enrollment form.

What is Body Shop Fitness?

Through Body Shop Fitness, UK Health & Wellness provides a range of fitness options
at very attractive rates for employees, retirees, spouses and sponsored dependents.
Body Shop Fitness includes two fitness facilities, group fitness classes, a selection of Mind/Body classes, one-on-one exercise consultations, and training information.

Who can join?

All UK employees, retirees, spouses and sponsored dependents are eligible for Body Shop Fitness. You can join any facility or group exercise class at any time. Join today!

Where are the Body Shop facilities and what are the hours?

Our fitness facilities, Seaton Center gym and Alumni gym, are conveniently located on both sides of campus (north and south). Both fitness facilities are separate from Campus/Student Recreation and available exclusively to employees, retirees, spouses and sponsored dependents. Find gym hours here.

How much does it cost?

Beginning in September 2008, the fee for Body Shop Fitness will be deducted from your UK employee paycheck at the rate of $7 per month or $3.50 per biweekly period and includes all Mind/Body and Group Fitness classes as well as one-on-one exercise consultations to help you get started with an exercise program or enhance your current program. Complete and return the payroll deduction form.

Retirees and retiree spouses will continue to pay by check or cash and complete this RETIREE enrollment form.

 Where can I park?

 Parking Structure #7, located at the corner of Sports Center Drive (Jerry Claiborne Way) accommodates employees and visitor pay parking.  The structure is also open to any user with a valid UK permit after 3:30 p.m. The structure is open from 5:30 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Visitor pay parking is $2 for both the first and second hours and $1 for each additional hour, with a $10 per day maximum charge.

A "Restricted Parking Permit" is available for those Body Shop members who do not have a valid UK permit and can be purchased at the Parking Office. For more information, call (859) 257-5757. The restricted parking permit allows you to park in the VA structure (directly across University Dr. from Seaton Center) or the small student center lot (located behind Alumni Gym) or the parking lot in between Memorial Coliseum and the New North Hall.

What fitness classes are offered?

Our group fitness classes are offered at locations around campus for your convenience. These classes range from Toning & Sculpting and Tai Chi to Aqua Jog and Deep Water Works.

(Beginning in September 2008, all Mind/Body and Group Fitness classes will be included for FREE with your Body Shop Fitness membership.)

How do I enroll in Body Shop Fitness?

1. New members: Call 257-3772 to schedule a Health & Fitness Consultation (HFC). You cannot enroll without one. The HFC consists of a health history assessment and measurement of height, weight, blood pressure, and heart rate. Physician clearance may be required for individuals with health risks.

Returning members: You may need a new Health Fitness Consultation (HFC), if you have not had one within the past year. You can find out the date of your last HFC by calling (859) 257-9355.

2. Employees and spouses/sponsored dependents please complete and return the Payroll Deduction Form to: UK Health & Wellness, 116A Seaton Center, Lexington, KY 40506-0219.

Retirees may pay with check or cash and complete and return the Retiree Enrollment Form to: UK Health & Wellness, 116A Seaton Center, Lexington, KY 40506-0219.

3. Your photo will be taken and you will be issued a key tag, or your key tag will be updated. Access will not be granted to the fitness facilities or Group Fitness Classes without your key tag.

Please note: Only University of Kentucky employees, retirees, spouses, and sponsored dependents are eligible for UK Health & Wellness services and programs.
