UK Navigation: Nav_UK Text
Click here to go to a printable text copy of this page

To mount the navigation bar onto your pages manually, please follow the instructions provided below. This code is compliant with Section 508.

IMPORTANT NOTE: For Web pages using FRAMES, please be sure to paste the code only in the appropriate HEADER or top frame.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. FTP the html file(s) from the server to your local machine or open a new page.
2. Find the <BODY> tag.
3. (optional) If you wish to have the navbar flush with the edges of the page, use a style attribute like this: <body style="margin: 0px;">. To have it flush with only the top of the page use <body style="margin-top: 0px;">. (To restore the margin(s) for page content, place the content in a DIV tagset and set a margin value for that DIV.)
4. Move the cursor to the line after the closing ">" of the <BODY> Tag.
5. Press ENTER, creating an empty line between the <BODY> Tag and the rest of the file's text.
6. Copy the following code exactly:

<script src="http://www.uky.edu/newhome/navbar/nav_uktext.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
if (navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer")
{
if (parseFloat(navigator.appVersion) < 4.0)
{
document.write("<A HREF=\"http://www.uky.edu/newhome/navbar/navbar.map\">");
document.write("<IMG src=\"http://www.uky.edu/newhome/navbar/nav_uktext.gif\" ismap alt=\"University Master Navigation Bar\" id=\"navbarA\"><\/A>");
}
}
if (navigator.appName == "")
{
document.write("<A HREF=\"http://www.uky.edu/newhome/navbar/navbar.map\">");
document.write("<IMG src=\"http://www.uky.edu/newhome/navbar/nav_uktext.gif\" ismap alt=\"University Master Navigation Bar\" id=\"navbarA\"><\/A>");
}
// -->
</script>

7. It is best to place the code inside a fixed width layer (or table cell). You may do this by placing the style in a stylesheet, in the header, or in a div tagset surrounding the code above (e.g., <div style="width: 630px;"></div>).
8. Save the file and test it on your local machine for formatting and layout.
9. Once the revised page has been thoroughly checked, FTP the file back to the server.
