Move-In 2008
The official date for freshman and transfer students to move-in is Friday, August 22nd. Freshman and transfer students not able to move-in on Friday, August 22nd, may do so on Saturday, August 23rd; however, there will be no assistance available. Please bring a cart or dolly with you to transfer your belongings.

Freshman and transfer students who were not able to move in on Friday, August 22nd, the official move-in day, may do so on Saturday, August 23rd; however, they must do so WITHOUT move-in assistance.
Four Easy Steps: Moving into your new home away from home at UK:
- Follow the campus map to the unloading zone for your residence hall.
- Unload all your belongings onto the carts and tables.
- Move your vehicle to the appropriate parking area (before you check into your hall). UK Police and Parking Officials will direct you.
- Check into your residence hall with your belongings. Room keys, mail box numbers, phone numbers and orientation info will be available.
TIPS for what to bring and what not to bring:
BRING
Refrigerator — maximum size 5 cubic feet
Microwave — not to exceed 700 watts
Linens — twin, extra-long (80" long by 36" wide)
Fan — if your residence hall is not air-conditioned
Cart — if you have a cart or dolly, please bring it
with you. We will have some carts to loan - You will need a UKID to check one out.
Cell Phone — Telephone are not provided in rooms.

- Excessive wall coverings
- Charcoal grill
- Toasters
- Candles
- Electric skillets
- Incense
- Foreman Grill
- Halogen lamps
- Deep fryer
- Lofted beds
- Crock Pot
- Multi-plug adapters
- Lamps with plastic shades
- Extension Cords
- Air Conditioners
Please remember: You may not plug multiple electrical "power strips" together, alter smoke detectors, remove door closures, or put excessive furniture in your room.
Parking:
Please unload your belongings on a table or cart and move your vehicle to the designated parking area for your residence hall (before you check into your hall). UK Police and Parking Officials will direct you. These unloading and parking areas are only available during scheduled move-in dates and times. Commonwealth Stadium parking is available for all move-in participants during both move-in weekends.
NOTE: On Move-In day, look for color-coordinated directional signs. These signs will help you get to your designated residence hall.
Movers may want to consider moving in on Saturday since Friday is historically the busier day. Also, it is highly recommended that movers bring a moving cart from home.
Early Move-In:
Only students who are participating in Sorority Recruitment or Marching Band may move into their residence hall before the August 22 move-in date. If you are participating in Sorority Recruitment or Marching Band, it is important that you are officially registered with the appropriate department before attempting to move in.
Classes begin on Wednesday, August 27. If you have not checked into your hall by 6 p.m. on this day, you will be declared a “NO SHOW” and your contract will be cancelled immediately, unless you have contacted the Housing Office in advance.
