Locating your Device's MAC Address

Below are instructions on obtaining media access control (MAC) address for popular devices. The MAC is used when manually registering devices to enable online access. The MAC address can also be referred to as hardware address, Wi-Fi address, or device address. Once you have located the MAC address, select your building from the list of supported buildings for information on how to register.

Sony Playstation 4

NOTE: For the best gaming experience, use an Ethernet cable with your console when connecting to ResNet.

  1. Select Settings and scroll down to System and select System Information The MAC address should be listed.
  2. Refer to your building in the supported building list for registration instructions.

Sony Playstation 3

Microsoft Xbox One

NOTE: For the best gaming experience, use an Ethernet cable with your console when connecting to ResNet.

  1. Under the Xbox One Network settings, select Advanced settings. The MAC address should be listed. For additional help, please read the Network settings Xbox One support article (opens in a new tab).

Microsoft Xbox 360

NOTE: For the best gaming experience, use an Ethernet cable with your console when connecting to ResNet.

  1. Starting on the main menu, go to Settings, select System, and go to Network Settings.
  2. Choose either Wired or Wireless as your connection type. If you choose Wireless, select the UKYResnet Access Point that has the best signal quality.
  3. From there, go to Configure Network, move to the Additional Settings tab, and enter Advanced Settings. The MAC address will be on the left side.
  4. Refer to your building in the supported building list for registration instructions.

Nintendo Wii U

NOTE: As the WiiU only supports wireless connections out of the box, we suggest obtaining a WiiU LAN adapter to have the best gaming experience. The WiiU LAN adapter can be purchased wherever Wiis are sold.

  1. If you are connecting via a wired connection, connect the WiiU LAN Adapter to an available USB port on the back of the WiiU.
  2. From the WiiU menu, select System Settings.
  3. Select the Internet icon.
  4. Select View MAC Address.
  5. Refer to your building in the supported building list for registration instructions.

Nintendo Wii

NOTE: As the Wii only supports wireless connections out of the box, we suggest obtaining a Wii LAN adapter to have the best gaming experience. The Wii LAN adapter can be purchased wherever Wiis are sold.

  1. If you are connecting via a wired connection, connect the Wii LAN Adapter to an available USB port on the back of the Wii.
  2. Turn on the Wii and select the round Wii Options button on the Wii home screen.
  3. Select Wii Settings from the menu.
  4. Scroll to the right and select Internet, then Console Settings.
  5. If you are using the Wii LAN Adapter, the MAC address of the Wii console is displayed on the bottom of the screen labeled Wired MAC Address. If this line is a light gray color and contains only 00's then there is a problem with your Wii LAN Adapter. Please contact Nintendo for support. If you are connecting wirelessly, register your Wii with the Wireless MAC address.

iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to General > About and scroll down to Wi-Fi Address.
