The University of Kentucky Campus Housing employs both a custodial and maintenance staff which is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the campus residence facilities. The custodians are responsible for cleaning all public areas in the halls and apartments; they work primarily during the day Monday thru Friday, throughout the year. The maintenance staff handles both repairs and preventive maintenance in the halls and apartments, while also coordinating more extensive renovation and repairs in cooperation with the University's Physical Plant Division and outside contractors. These departments maintain a minimal staff after regular business hours and during official University holidays.

Routine Maintenance

All non-emergency maintenance requests will be handled during regular business hours, Monday thru Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Students living in the UK Campus Housing can fill out a work request at the Call Center offices located in room 34A Donovan Hall or submit routine maintenance requests electronically at www.uky.edu/AuxServ/chfixit.html. Please be as detailed as possible when submitting your request. Our principle goals are to facilitate your learning experience here at UK while maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for you, the Student; we encourage you to contact us on any problems which affect your ability to meet your academic goals or with any facilities safety concerns (for example, exterior lighting or walkway safety during bad weather).

Emergencies

A maintenance or custodial EMERGENCY is anything which may endanger the health of a person, and/or cause significant damage to University property. If you have any question as to whether your request constitutes an EMERGENCY please feel free to contact the FIXIT Call Center immediately. Any situation in which a student has an imminent personal safety concern should be immediately reported to UKPD by phone at 911 or 7-1616.

Emergency maintenance requests must be reported by calling the FIXIT Hotline (3-4948); these requests may include plumbing stoppage, leaks or overflows, heating/cooling concerns, electric power outages, comfort issues and any other building/room related problems you may have. Maintenance personnel will be dispatched as soon as possible in response to emergency situations. With Student Safety in mind and for your convenience, the maintenance FIXIT Call Center is staffed 24 hours a day.
