All residential facilities operated by the Office of Residence Life (except for Roselle Hall, Smith Hall, Kirwan Tower & Royal Lexington Apartments) will close for Thanksgiving Break at 10 am on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. All students must vacate the facility by this time. All residential facilities will re-open on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 2 pm.
After the facilities close, residents will not be able to re-enter (for security reasons, Student I.D. cards will not work in the card access system during the break.). Residents should remember to take any important items, such as medications, plane tickets, etc. with them. Residents will not be able to enter to collect items that have been left behind.
Residents should make sure the following tasks have been completed before leaving for the break:
- Close and lock all windows
- Turn off all lights
- Close blinds (first floor rooms only)
- Empty all trashcans
- Close and lock your room door.
- Unplug all appliances, except refrigerators cable modems.
- Take all valuables home with you.
Residence Life staff will check all rooms to make sure that all of the above items have been completed. Violations of fire safety regulations or other policies will be reported to the Director. The last resident to leave the room for break should sign the check-list taped to the outside of the door.
Any resident who needs alternative housing arrangements for the break should contact their R.A., Hall Director, or Greek House Director as soon as possible.
Hours in the Dining facilities (Commons, Blazer, Ovid's, Student Center etc.) will change temporarily prior to closing for break. Check with the front desk or go to the Dining website for more information.
