About the Wellness Community
The Wellness Living Learning Community fosters an environment where students can freely explore all dimensions of wellness. Through education and intentional programming students are encouraged to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle through eating healthy, physical activities and various other programs that challenge the mind, body and spirit of individuals pursuing a healthier lifestyle.
The wellness Living Learning community is looking for first year students who are committed to learning and living a healthy lifestyle. All majors are accepted. However, this living learning community is a good fit for students who are pursuing a bachelor's degree in health sciences or any other related field.
Students who participate in the wellness living learning community can expect to be able to identify the six dimensions of Wellness and identify campus resources to support each one.
Students will also be able to develop a personal wellness philosophy that can be applied to their individual lives.
Students who participate in the wellness LLC will also begin their lifelong commitment to living a healthier lifestyle.
All students who participate in the wellness living learning community will reside in Ingels Hall.
Students who enroll in the wellness living learning community are required to take UK 101-085 course. UK 101 is a 1 credit hour course designed to assist students in transitioning from high school to the University of Kentucky college environment. In addition, students will engage in course content that promotes academic success and embracing opportunities for growth in a wellness lifestyle.
Beyond the Classroom Experience students who enroll in the wellness LLP can expect to participate in programs in and outside of the residence hall such as:
- Free specialized group sessions with a UK personal trainer
- Healthy cooking demos facilitated by UK Dining Services
- Susan G Komen Race for the Cure participation
