Plant Maintenance Information Sessions to be offered
09/21/06
Managers, shop superintendents, and others in Auxiliary Services and Physical Plant will soon learn more about the PM implementation. Tuesday presentations are scheduled for this group September 26-October 31. Each presentation highlights a particular aspect of Plant Maintenance and includes demonstrations.
PM Team members visited Massachusetts Institute of Technology recently to observe that institution’s use of the SAP Plant Maintenance module. MIT implemented Plant Maintenance in 2004 and uses the system to capture work order costs for external charges, internal labor, and materials used. Since its implementation, MIT has realized efficiencies through PM’s support of scheduling work and preventive maintenance. Students and employees at MIT utilize web interfaces to report problems and request service.
The trip proved beneficial for the UK representatives who plan to utilize PM to gain the benefits now enjoyed by MIT.
Blueprint Sessions Scheduled
05/22/06
Beginning in late April, the PM Team and Workgroup began the process of gathering information for the Business Blueprint. During weekly workshops, the participants learn about the SAP features for Plant Maintenance from consultant Bruce Miller. In turn, they teach him about UK’s plant and equipment requirements and current processes.
Presentations are used for each workshop to cover the major components of the PM functionality.
The blueprinting sessions will provide the information and understanding necessary for the Plant Maintenance Business Blueprint due in October.
