Question

How can I end an assignment on 5/31/06 for a part-time instructor who will likely return in the Fall? There is no selection for "end an assignment."

Answer

You will do a "Separation" action dated 6/01/06 (if there is no other assignment). HR/Payroll will not reflect the employee as being separated until that date. You can then rehire when the individual returns, which does not require you to re-enter information. Rehiring takes the individual out of the separation status, delimiting the separation and returning to active status.
