IRIS HR/Payroll Q & A
Question
How will we know if a prospective employee is eligible for rehire?
Answer
When an employee separation is an involuntary separation, the action triggers an e-mail message to the Employee Relations Office. ER staff will create a grievance on the employee's record. The presence of that grievance will prevent the employee from being rehired. If there is a situation where the "not eligible for rehire" should be changed to "eligible for rehire", then Employee Relations staff would have to delimit the grievance and enter a result of "reconciled." That will clear the person to be rehired. There will be no flag like there is in HRS that says "N" for rehire.
