Community & Engagement

The University of Kentucky strives to advance the Commonwealth through engaged research, teaching, and service. UK is active in each of Kentucky's 120 counties. The University offers outreach and support for thousands of community projects that improve agriculture, health care, information technology fine arts, and many other areas of need.

Two tools provided by University Engagement include a database of county-by-county projects and activities in each Kentucky county and an interactive map showing the activity as well as density of engagement efforts in each county.

UK Engagement Activity Database - a county-by-county instrument of UK activities. Each county has not less than 282 projects operating in or impacting the county. The database includes 1,792 reported person-projects and activities. Some of these function outside Kentucky or even internationally.

Click on the county name and find:

1. the total number of engagement projects in or impacting the county,
2. the college/unit involved with each, and
3. the project/activity names linked to the county.

When an individual project/activity is clicked on, you will be able to access information about:

1. project/activity goals,
2. individual or department/unit involved, and
3. individual or department contact information.

Both the database and the interactive map use UK outreach and engagement data reported by UK colleges and units within the past year.
