Faculty Fact Book |

Faculty members at the University of Kentucky comprise a diverse group of scholars. Many of them are among the nation's best researchers and practitioners. Faculty members are engaged in one or a combination of the following activities: instruction, research and creative activities, public and professional service, clinical activities, professional development, and administrative service.

The information presented in this online Faculty Fact Book describes two groups of faculty. The first group presented in the Total Faculty Appointments section is a comprehensive picture of all full-time and part-time faculty resources, excluding graduate teaching assistants, as of November 1 of the fall term.

The second group of faculty reported in all other sections is a subset of the total comprehensive group, as defined by federal reporting requirements:

INCLUDED: Faculty included in these pages are on the payroll as of November 1 of the reporting year. Beginning in 2006, IPEDS required library faculty to be reported as ‘other professionals’, but they are included in these pages to ensure consistent comparisons over time and because they have faculty status at UK.

EXCLUDED: Faculty excluded in these pages are those who spend more than 50% of their time on administrative activities, who are on leave without pay, or who are Veterans Administration faculty.
