- Historically,
white students have earned the greatest percentage of
degrees in the University System. In recent years, a growing
number of the degrees have been awarded to African American
students and students of other races.
- Degrees
awarded to African Americans accounted for 3% of the total
number of degrees awarded in 1994 and 4% of the degrees
earned in 2003.
- The
overall number of degrees conferred to African Americans
rose from 125 in 1994 to 211 in 2003, a 69 percent increase.
- The
overall number of degrees awarded to Asian and Hispanic
students has doubled in the past ten years
