    The University of Kentucky uses the iPassConnect service as an international remote access solution to the University. Before downloading or installing iPassConnect to your computer, you will need the following:

    • A new iPassConnect Account
    • A valid Exchange Account

    To obtain an iPassConnect Account, you will need fill out and submit Communications and Networking Services iPassConnect Account Online Order Form (http://www.uky.edu/IT/CNS/forms/contact.html). You will be contacted by Communications and Networking Services personnel with your iPassConnect Account information.

    For more information about your Exchange account, please see the Exchange information web site (Exchange).

    Downloading iPassConnect

    1. Open your web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator) and go to the UK Download web site (UK Download).
    2. In the Login box, enter your Exchange user ID and password and then click on Login. The Login box will display your name when you have successfully logged in to the Download site.
      If you are unable to use your Exchange user ID and password to login, please contact the IT Customer Service Center by phone (859-218-HELP (4357)) or email (helpdesk@uky.edu).
    3. Under Operating Systems, click on the Mac OS 8.0 - 9.2 link. Categories of software will be displayed. Click on the Email and Internet Tools link.
    4. A list of software for that category will be displayed. Locate iPassConnect Client from the list. Click on the download link on the right to begin downloading the file.
    5. The Mac_ipc.hqx file will download to your computer. If you are using Internet Explorer 5, the file will automatically download to the Download Folder specified in the Internet Explorer Preferences. In other browsers, a window may appear for you to choose what to do with the file -- choose to save it to your Desktop.
    6. Once the file has downloaded to your computer, logout of the UK Download site by clicking on the Logout button.
      The Mac_ipc.hqx should automatically expand to the Central_House_MAC_iPC_v18 installer. If this does not happen, double-click the Mac_ipc.hqx to expand it.

    Installing iPassConnect

    1. To begin installing iPassConnect, locate and double-click on the Central_House_MAC_iPC_v18 icon.
    2. The iPassConnect installation program will start up and display a welcome screen. Click on the Continue button to continue.
    3. The next screen will show the installation type and installation location. Ensure that your hard drive is selected as the Install Location, and that Easy Install is selected as the install type. Click on the Install button to install the iPassConnect client.
    4. The iPassConnect program will be installed on your computer, after which a prompt will appear stating that the iPassConnect program is installed correctly. Click on the Quit button to quit the installation process.
    5. Upon quitting, the iPassConnect ReadMe file will open. After reviewing the file, quit the SimpleText application that is displaying the ReadMe file.

    Setting Up iPassConnect

    1. You will need to open the iPassConnect client after the installation program quits. Open your hard drive from the desktop and then open the iPassConnect folder within. Locate and double-click the iPassConnect application icon.
    2. Next, the iPassConnect End User License Agreement will appear. Read through the agreement, and click on the Accept button.
    3. In the Options menu, select User Info. In the User Info window that appears, enter the specified information in the corresponding fields:
      • Username - Enter your full iPassConnect username.
      • Domain - Enter "uky.edu" into the field.
      • Password - Enter your iPassConnect password that has been assigned to your username.
    4. Click on the OK button to save your changes.

    Your iPassConnect client is now correctly configured for use. Please refer to the iPassConnect User Guide for instructions (http://www.uky.edu/IT/CNS/iPass/iPC-mac-1[1].8- UserGuide.pdf) on using iPassConnect.
