High School Courses - MATHEMATICS

CONSUMER MATHEMATICS A or B (1/2 unit each)

This course enables the student to apply skills in solving mathematical problems of consumers. Concepts of whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percent are applied through study and problem solving in the following areas: investment, wages, commissions, buying/renting a home, taxes, travel, banking, personal care and insurance.

16 assignments in each half unit.

Tuition: $70.00 per half unit.

ESSENTIALS OF MATHEMATICS A or B (1/2 unit each)

This course contains some basic content from arithmetic, algebra and geometry. Topics include estimation, measurement, statistics, proportion/percent, transformation, probability and logic. Problem solving strategies are woven into the course.

16 assignments in each half unit.

Tuition: $70.00 per half unit.

FUNDAMENTALS OF MATHEMATICS A or B (1/2 unit each)

A remedial course for students needing more practice in developing arithmetic skills. Basic computations with fractions and decimals in problem solving in the first half are followed by a review of percentages and introduction to measures of length, weight and volume in the second half.

15 assignments in each half unit.

Tuition: $70.00 per half unit.

INTEGRATED MATHEMATICS A or B (1/2 unit each)

Integrated mathematics is a spiraled study of high school mathematics. This course includes topics from Algebra, such as linear equations, linear inequalities and factoring expressions; Geometry, such as angles, polygons, circles, perimeter, area, volume and trig ratios; Statistics and Probability, such as analyzing data, displaying data, experimental geometry, theoretical probability, and geometric probability; and Logical Reasoning such as conjectures, counter examples, and if-then statements.

18 assignments in each half unit.

Tuition: $70.00 per half unit.

PRE-ALGEBRA A or B (1/2 unit each)

Topics in this course include such basic algebraic concepts as the variable, the real number system, ratio and proportion, order of operations, exponents and radicals and geometry. The prerequisite skills, concepts and problem solving processes needed to help students become comfortable with and be successful in Algebra are introduced.

17 assignments in each half unit.

Tuition: $70.00 per half unit.

ALGEBRA I

First-year course. This course serves as an introduction to the subject and is designed to prepare students for Algebra II. It explores functions, both linear and non-linear, solves equations and inequalities algebraically and graphically, and explores probability and statistics.

16 assignments in each half unit.

Tuition: $70.00 per half unit.

ALGEBRA II

Second-year course. This course is an excellent preparation for college Algebra.

Part A (1/2 unit, 17 assignments)

Part B (1/2 unit, 18 assignments)

Tuition: $70.00 per half unit.

PLANE GEOMETRY A or B (1/2 unit each)

This course is the study of shapes and objects. This includes lines, angles, planes, circles and polygons. The course examines the concepts of congruence, similarity and measurements of two and three dimensional objects.

16 assignments in each half unit.

Tuition: $70.00 per half unit.

PRE-CALCULUS A or B (1/2 unit each)

A senior level course for students who have completed Algebra I, Algebra II and Plane Geometry. Recommendation by counselor or math teacher required. Trigonometric graphs, identities and equations are included with precalculus topics of functions, graphs, equations and inverse.

16 assignments in each half unit.

Tuition: $70.00 per half unit.
