Configuring Other Clients for Exchange
Introduction
Although it is possible to connect to Microsoft Exchange using any POP3 or IMAP compliant email application, it is not recommended. Doing so will remove your ability to take advantage of the advanced collaboration features offered by Exchange, and may result in reduced performance.
Additionally only limited technical support will be provided to users attempting to access Exchange through clients other than Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Entourage, or Outlook Web Access.
The settings you will need in order to configure your client are as follows:
- From Address: Must match users primary email address, usually will be the University Email Address, but may be userID@uky.edu or userID@email.uky.edu if user did not configure their University Email Address.
- Incoming Server: exchange.uky.edu
- Outgoing Server: exchange.uky.edu
- SSL Setting: Required
- SMTP Authentication: Required, use same login information as incoming settings
- User Name: Domain\UserID where domain is the domain of the user (AD or MC) and UserID is the user's userID
- Password: This is the user's password. Note: Passwords will expire every 90 days.
