UK Is Now an Authorized MOUS
Testing Center
MOUS certification
can mean career advancement for you!
Certification is becoming increasingly important in the job market, particularly for establishing computer proficiency. But did you know you can be certified in the word processing and spreadsheet programs you use every day in your work?
And, as a UK staff or faculty member, you can take the certification tests right here on the UK campus.
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access have their own certification track called MOUS, an acronym for Microsoft Office User Specialist. And the University of Kentucky is now an authorized MOUS testing center, with the Information Systems Support Services Desktop Training Services department offering certification exams to UK faculty, staff, and students on a regular basis.
Why is certification important?
MOUS certification is the globally recognized standard for demonstrating desktop skills in Microsoft Office applications, and the only Microsoft approved certification track designed to measure and validate these skills. Major corporations such as Electronic Data Systems (EDS) report gains in productivity attributable to MOUS certification, and as a result more companies will be looking for MOUS certified job applicants.
MOUS certification offers proof of your productivity and expertise, and therefore gives you an edge in todays competitive market for promotions and jobs.
Whats available and how much does it the cost?
Testing for several types of MOUS certification is now available, with a separate exam for each application.
A typical MOUS exam takes one hour. The exams cost $55 each and can be paid for by departments or individuals, either by check or IDIV. (There is no limit to the number of times a MOUS exam can be taken, but the same fee applies to each examination. Refunds are not available for failing scores or missed appointments.)
