DEFINITION OF STANDARD:
Virus scanning software is used to detect and remove software viruses at the server and desktop levels.

RATIONALE:
Virus scanning software must be capable of detecting an infected file at the server and desktop levels with regular updates of the virus definition files and engine.

Technical Considerations:
The University of Kentucky has contracted for a site license for VirusScan by McAfee. All faculty, staff, and students are eligible to use this software.
