IT Strategic Plan | 16 Action Item 3:3 ITS, in collaboration with the CCS, should support research-related IT needs. Researchers should be able to rely upon the expertise and services of ITS and CCS personnel to set up, house, and maintain the resources and specialized IT equipment that they need to conduct their research. ITS should partner with college/department level technical support providers to ensure leading edge technologies are supported to facilitate innovation and research. Through such support and collaboration ITS should seek to provide robust research infrastructure, maximize efficiencies, and minimize duplication of services, in support of the research mission of the institution. Action Item 3:4 Basic research infrastructure, services, software, and tools should be provided to support research endeavors while shepherding growth. A support model should be developed, including acquisition and establishing funding models external to ITS and CCS, to provide these basics while significantly expanding and enhancing the infrastructure and services available. ITS Division: Networking & Infrastructure Service Area: Network Operations “As a UK student majoring in computer science I was awarded a networking scholarship. Part of the scholarship involved working asanintern.Theinternshipgavemehandsontrainingconfiguring switches, routers, and wireless access points, making it easier to pass my Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. The certification was critical in obtaining a network engineering position.” Jackie Denault
