IA prides itself on its quality assurance initiatives and program. The Department strives to provide the best possible service to the University by staying atop of industry and professional standards through continuous professional education, continuous process improvement and recommended assessments.
According to IIA Standard 1310, Internal Audit activities should adopt a process to monitor and assess the overall effectiveness of the quality program. The process should include both internal and external assessments, with the external assessment recommended every 5 years. The purpose is to provide reasonable assurance of professional standard conformity to those that rely on the work of IA.
The following is the Assessment Timeline for IA:
Completed an internal assessment in February, 2006
Completed a "Readiness Assessment" performed by the consulting group Titus on April 20, 2007
A quality assurance review is planned for the 2008 Fiscal Year.
Metrics
IA maintains at least an annual self-assessment in which 5 department metrics are measured to ensure that quality and standards are being met. In addition to these metrics, IA monitors and reports on requests and audit duration. These metrics address the effectiveness, quality, productivity, reporting, training, and client satisfaction of the department.
