Position, Mission, Goal and Vision Statements

Our Position is that our future, the future of humanity and the world, lies in the hands of the current generation of higher education students. Our peace and prosperity will depend upon international collaboration and intercultural understanding. We believe that high-quality international academic experiences are essential to furthering such collaboration and understanding and therefore providing such opportunities is an integral part of the responsibility that the University of Kentucky has toward its students.

Our Mission is to provide every University of Kentucky student the opportunity to incorporate high-quality international academic experiences into his or her course of study and to encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities.

Our Goal is that at least half of the University of Kentucky graduating class of 2020 will have an international academic component on their transcript. We will achieve this goal by continually identifying and eliminating personal, financial and institutional barrieNovember 17, 2006ng new or expanded opportunities for Education Abroad. We will work with members of the University of Kentucky community and will provide encouragement, guidance and support for students, faculty, administrators and other staff in order to achieve this goal. We will facilitate cooperation and collaboration between the University of Kentucky and local, state, national and international organizations and businesses to promote the mutual benefits of Education Abroad.

Our Vision is that Education Abroad will become established as an integral component of every University of Kentucky degree program and a realistic expectation of every University of Kentucky student.
