V. Request for Musical Instruments and Sheet Music

Rommel Jumbo, a renowned Ecuadorian flute player recently performed in Lexington. Jumbo is closely involved with CEDEMUSICA, an organization that strives to develop the musical arts through education and the establishment of orchestras, choral groups and music schools. Among the organization's biggest needs are used instruments and sheet music. In Mr. Jumbo’s own musical journey he did not have a flute for many years. In fact, he played what he referred to as a "student flute" until recently in his professional career. With guidance from UK's flute professor, he was able to purchase a new flute, which he debuted at his Kentucky recital. CEDEMUSICA has requested donations of used sheet music and instruments to help other musicians realize their goals. They accept any type of instrument, but flutes and percussion instruments are of particular interest. International student groups or individuals who may be able to help are asked to contact Kay Roberts at roberts@uky.edy.

VI. Kenyan Artist in Residence
