I. Travel Endorsements and MyUK Updates
The Immigration team in the Office of International Affairs offers the following reminders:
Travel Endorsements - Be sure your documents are endorsed for travel if you plan to leave the United States over the summer. Each travel endorsement is good for one year, or to the ending date of the document, whichever is earlier. Check the signature date on your present document to see if it is still valid. Don’t forget to include your F-2/J-2 dependents. Click here to access the travel request form and instructions.
Updating MyUK - All international students should check their contact information in myUK. Follow these steps:
- Make sure that your e-mail address is correct so that you receive immigration notices and other information from OIA. If you update your e-mail address, you must notify OIA Database Manager Ann Livingstone at livingstone@uky.edu.
- Check your mailing address, which is the address of your physical residence in Kentucky. (Office addresses and post office boxes will not be accepted.) NOTE: J-1 students who update their mailing addresses are required to notify OIA Database Manager Ann Livingstone at livingstone@uky.edu. Immigration law mandates this to be done within 10 days of your move.
II. Swine Flu Precautions
The swine flu outbreak has not affected UK’s campus or the state of Kentucky. However, UK’s Office of Emergency Management has issued health tips as a precautionary measure. Visit OIA's Web site for links to this list and additional health and travel information.
III. Writing Center Announces Summer Hours
The Writing Center, which is located in the Thomas D. Clark Study on the fifth floor in the west wing of the William T. Young Library, will be open Monday-Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. during Summer I and Monday-Thursday, noon-4 p.m. during Summer II.
IV. Istanbul-Istanbul: Works by Haydar Hatemi
The Headley-Whitney Museum is pleased to present “Istanbul-Istanbul: Works by Haydar Hatemi.” The artist was born in Iran and lived in Turkey for many years before moving to Lexington. Turkey’s beauty and history provide the inspiration for his current work. The exhibition features 72 painted ostrich eggs and 60 smaller painted eggs, as well as other decorated masterpieces. The eggs feature portraits of all 36 sultans of the Ottoman Empire, as well as everyday life scenes and landscapes of the city of Istanbul. To learn more, visit the museum’s Web site.
V. International Student Workshop: Returning Home
Join other international students, as well as staff from the UK Counseling and Testing Center and the Office of International Affairs, to talk about life in the United States. This week’s session, “Let’s Talk About Returning Home” will focus on making your return home a smooth transition. Meet in room 207 in Bradley Hall, 2-3 p.m. on Friday, May 1.
This notification is distributed by UK’s Office of International Affairs (OIA) in Bradley Hall.
