International Education Week
International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. IEW is held in November and is a joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment. For more information on the national initiative, visit the official International Education Week site.
The University of Kentucky participates in this annual event by inviting high school students from surrounding areas to campus to participate in International Education Day, a day of cross-cultural exchange sponsored by the UK Office of International Affairs. Students participate in sessions led by faculty representatives from foreign language and area study departments; former education abroad participants; former Peace Corps volunteers; and other members of campus who show the students multiple opportunities for international education.
