Peace Corps
Peace Corps volunteers perform a variety of jobs all over the globe. No two days are ever the same. Detailed information and applications are available on the Peace Corps Web site at www.peacecorps.gov.
Information on the Peace Corps, including the application process, is also available in the UK Office of International Affairs, 102 Bradley Hall. A recruiter from Peace Corps’ Chicago office typically visits UK once or twice a year.
In addition, members of the Kentucky Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCV) in the Lexington area have an informal gathering on the first day of each month. This group raises funds for projects and supports recruiting efforts. OIA Community Liaison Kay Roberts has served as a member of the group for many years. Roberts was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador. She welcomes questions regarding her Peace Corps experience or the Kentucky RPCV group. Contact her at 859.257.6601 or roberts@uky.edu for more information.
Listen to "Carl Nathe's UK at the Half" broadcast from March 2011, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the United States Peace Corps and UK's connection to the organization.
