The Kentucky Legislature's Interim Joint Committee on Natural Resources and Environment held a meeting at the KGS Well Sample and Core Library on Thursday, November 1, 2012. The members heard reports from several research offices of the University of Kentucky, including KGS.

KGS Director Jim Cobb speaks to the committee about KGS and its research. Sitting with him is Associate Director Jerry Weisenfluh.
Dr. Cobb updated the committee on the progress of carbon storage and enhanced oil and gas recovery research funded by the legislature in 2007.
Committee members complimented the Survey on its progress with the carbon dioxide research, funded by House Bill 1 in 2007.
UK Mining Engineering Department Chairman Rick Honaker told the committee about research efforts in his department.
The committee also heard from John Anthony of the UK Chemistry Department and Stephen Lipka of the Center for Applied Energy Research.
