Oil and gas production data by well

Lexington, KY. (February 1, 2007) - Monthly oil and gas production data are now available through the KGS oil and gas well search pages.

In 1996 805 KAR 1:180 was adopted requiring oil and gas well operators to report production data annually to the Kentucky Division of Oil and Gas Conservation. Data by county are available in downloadable text files with wells identified by permit number. These data are available to the public with the provision of a 1-year period of confidentiality (for example 2005 data have one year of confidentiality and will be released in 2007).

These production data have been reformatted, linked to the KGS Oil and Gas Well Record database, and are now available by well through the KGS oil and gas well search pages. Search results returned contain a link to Production Data. Clicking this link will open a pop-up window that displays the data and provides a facility to download the data to a text file.

Note that the Kentucky Geological Survey and the Division of Oil and Gas are in the process of synchronizing our databases. Some wells for which production data are available at the Division have not yet been matched to records in the KGS data base. This applies particularly to older wells that have been transferred and assigned an "N" permit number. As KGS staff identifies wells, those production data will become available to the public through our interface.
