Since June 1, 2003, access to paper copies of Kentucky oil and gas well records is available by appointment only. Users may access these records online through a criteria-based query system or an interactive map server interface. This Web-based system allows users to view and print these records from anywhere, thus eliminating the need for travel to the KGS offices in Lexington or Henderson. Users are welcome to use the public-access computers in the Public Information Center in room 104 of the Mining and Mineral Resources Building on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington. Staff members are available to assist you in locating the data you need. In addition, there are facilities for obtaining copies of the records and other software to assist you in your work. Should you still wish to examine the remaining paper records, please make an appointment by calling 859.257.5500 (ext. 120). Although we appreciate 24-hour notice, we will always try to accommodate your needs. Thank you for your patronage.
