Kentucky Coal Atlas Map and Chart Series

The following map and chart publications are available as paper prints (approximately 36" x 36") at a cost of $10 each plus postage. Electronic versions in Adobe portable document format (PDF) can be viewed or downloaded from this page. Because the file sizes are typically greater that 1 megabyte, download times may be long. Summary Reports for National Coal Assessment

Final results of the National Coal Resource Assessment for the Northern and Central Appalachian Coal Regions (U.S. Geological Survey Professional Paper 1625), which include information about the Fire Clay and Pond Creek coal in eastern Kentucky are available on CD-ROM from the U.S. Geological Survey and can be viewed online.

Preliminary results of the National Coal Resource Assessment for the Springfield, Herrin, Danville, and Baker coals in the Illinois Basin (U.S. Geological Survey Fact Sheet 0072-02), which include information about the Springfield (W. Ky. No. 9), Herrin (W. Ky. No. 11), and Baker (W. Ky. No. 13) coals in western Kentucky can be viewed online. Final results should be available on CD-ROM from the U.S. Geological Survey soon.
