Bed Production
In Kentucky, coal is produced from many beds, but annually there are a few beds that dominate production because of their extent, thickness, or quality. For example, the Springfield (W. Ky. No. 9) coal has been the leading producer in Kentucky for many years. U.S. EIA ranks coal production by bed nationally in its annual report. http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/coal/page/acr/table5.pdf
