Solar Energy Web Sites
The Solstice renewable energy site sponsored by the Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology (CREST). In addition to solar energy, geothermal energy activities are included.
Student Energy Education Development (SEED) provides information on projects, newsletters, activities, and associations for solar and renewable energy.
National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project The project has developed many educational materials and classroom activities. It is a network of students, teachers, community organizations, government agencies, and corporations dedicated to learning about energy. Electricity, coal, petroleum, natural gas, wood, nuclear, solar, geothermal, and renewable energy are investigated.
California Energy Commission, Energy Quest. An excellent site, designed for K12 students. This site is subdivided into the Energy Story, Saving Energy, Fossil Fuels, Nuclear Energy, Energy Almanac, Alternative Fuels, Energy Scientists, Art Contests, Resource Links, and much more. Provides a section called Percy's Puzzles that contains energy puzzles, crosswords, matching, and other games suitable for elementary grades energy education. Also contains instructions for grades 412 science projects on electricity and renewable energy resources (hydologic, solar, and wind).
