Kentucky Seismic and Strong-Motion Network
The Kentucky Geological Survey and the UK Department of Geological Sciences jointly operate a network consisting of 12 seismic stations and 10 strong-motion stations. The seismic network is capable of monitoring any earthquake occurring in Kentucky with a magnitude larger than 2.0, as well as major earthquakes in the central United States. The strong-motion network is designed to record ground motion from strong earthquakes in the New Madrid Seismic Zone. The near real-time recordings from the network are available. The network has recently expanded to include a new seismic station at the Rapp Granary in New Harmony, Ind. A new vertical strong-motion array will be installed in Fulton County in the near future.

Information on earthquakes occuring in the central United States and other areas are available from the Center for Earthquake Research and Information at the University of Memphis, and from the U.S. Geological Survey.
