Barrel
a standard measure of liquid hydrocarbons equal to 42 gallons
Field
an area of producing oil or gas wells related by various geologic conditions that contains one or more pools. Used interchangably with pool in Kentucky
Permeability
a measure of how well connected are the pore spaces in a given volume of rock, related to how easily oil, gas, or water may move through the rock
Play
a group of geologically similar prospects that have the same source-reservoir-trap controls and share common elements of risk
Pool
an underground reservoir or trap for oil or gas with a unique combination of geologic characteristics that isolate it from other reservoirs
Porosity
the void space in a rock usually expressed as a percent of the total volume of the rock, the space within a rock that contains any oil, natural gas, or water
