Water Use

Christian County had an estimated population of 66,747 (25,098 households) in 1999; projected population is 77,456 (29,756 households) in 2020. Public water serves over 19,600 customers or about seven out of eight of the county's residents. In areas of the county not served by public water, about three of four households use wells and the remainder rely on other sources. An estimated 1,040 customers will be added to public water service through new line extensions from 2000 to 2020. If all proposed water-line extensions are made, about 11 percent of the county will still rely on private water supplies in the year 2020.
