Patterson Office Tower 0027 Professor Badagliacco is the Director of the Freshman Discovery Seminar Program. Her research focuses on housing distress among the poorest families in KY, including rural families. Out of this research, she is analyzing data on multi-generational parenting, the intergenerational transmission of poverty, and family violence, and is writing a book on mothers in poverty in Kentucky. She has extended her research to include comparative studies of extremely poor families in southern Italy and rural Mexico. Her teaching includes offering a Freshman Discovery Seminar, introducing students to sociology through the study of family poverty in KY. She regularly teaches undergraduate methods (Social Research Methods I, SOC 302), the Sociology of Family (SOC409), and a graduate seminar (SOC 772) on Motherhood and Reproduction.
