Professor Wilson joined the Chemistry faculty at U.K. in 1963 and retired as Professor in 1999. During that period he did research and taught graduate and undergraduate courses in organic chemistry, served as Director of Undergraduate Studies, Director of Graduate Studies, Acting Chair and, from 1995 to 1999, Director of General Chemistry. He was awarded the Great Teacher Award of the Alumni Association in 1975 and the Outstanding Teaching Award of the College of Arts and Sciences in 1993. In 1997 he was selected by graduating seniors in the College as one of the Top 10 Professors "who made the biggest contributions to my undergraduate education." Since retirement Dr. Wilson has continued to lead the Peer-Led Team Learning program (ChemExcel) in which outstanding undergraduate leaders meet weekly to work problems with small groups (about eight students) of students in both General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.
