Boyd County, Kentucky

Boyd county is located in far northeastern Kentucky along the Ohio and Big Sandy rivers. It was formed in 1860 and named for Linn Boyd, congressman and lieutenant governor. The county seat is Catlettsburg, but the largest city in the county is Ashland. The population of the county in 1990 was 51,150.
