Henry county was formed in 1799. It is located in the Outer Bluegrass region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 425 to 950 feet above sea level. In 2010 the county population was 15,416 in a land area of 286.28 square miles, an average of 53.8 people per square mile.

The county seat is New Castle.
