Nicholas County, Kentucky

Nicholas county is located on the northeastern edge of the Inner Bluegrass region of Kentucky. It was formed in 1799 and named for Colonel George Nicholas, a Revolutionary War veteran from Fayette county. The original county seat was at Blue Licks. It moved to Ellisville in 1805 and finally to Carlisle in 1816.
