Oldham county was formed in 1824. It is located in the Outer Bluegrass region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 420 to 920 feet above sea level. In 2010 the county population was 60,316 in a land area of 187.22 square miles, an average of 322.2 people per square mile.

The county seat is La Grange.
