Rockcastle County, Kentucky

Rockcastle county, located in south central Kentucky, was formed in 1810 and named for the Rockcastle River, which forms its southern boundary. The river was named for its tall rock formations. The county seat is Mount Vernon. The population of the county in 1990 was 14,803.
