Crestwood is a town in southern Oldham county. A Beard's Station post office opened on the site in 1857 for the station on the Louisville and Frankfort Railroad. The station was named for Joseph Beard, who had donated the land. The name was shortened to Beard in 1880 which lead to the town being referred to as Whiskers. The town and post office were renamed Crestwood in 1909. The source of the name is not known. The population in 1990 was 1,435.
