Kosmosdale was a southwestern Jefferson county town near the Ohio River. A post office opened as Grassy Pond in 1854, was renamed Riverview in 1860, and was renamed Kosmosdale, for the nearby Kosmos-Portland Cement Company plant, in 1905.
