London, the seat of Laurel county, began as a settlement on the Wilderness Road running north from the Cumberland Gap. The town was formed and named for the city in England in 1826. London is served by US 25, KY 80, I-75, and the Daniel Boone Parkway. The first post office opened in 1831. The population in 1990 was 5,757.
