Morganfield, the seat of Union county, is located near the center of the county at the intersection of US 60 and KY 56. It was established in 1812 with the new county and named Morgan's Field for General Daniel Morgan. The Morganfield Court House post office opened in 1813. The population in 1990 was 3,776.
