U-Connect is the UK e-mail system. To access this system you will need a Student Computing account. This account also allows you to use computers in any of the UK campus Computer Labs including the computer lab in the Law Library.
To set up your UK Student Computing Account you will need your UK student I.D. number, which is usually your social security number and your PAC number. Your default PAC number is your birth month and date. Special Note on PAC Numbers: The system requires that you change your default PAC number to one of your choosing before it will create a new computing account for you. You will need to change your PAC number BEFORE going on-line to create your computing account. Dial Telephone Registration at 257-7000. Prompts will take you through the process of changing your PAC.
When you have both your student I.D. number and your PAC number, go to the User Account Management System http://iweb.uky.edu/uams. At the very bottom of the page, click on the Request button. If you correctly enter all information requested, you will get a listing of all the available accounts. Select one of the accounts and then click OK. Remember, you can only apply for one account at a time. The account should be created within an hour. Write down the user ID. It may or may not be the same as other accounts you already have.
When you have your user I.D. and password for U-Connect, you can return to the U-Connect page at http://u-connect.uky.edu to log into the E-mail system. Your e-mail address will be userid@uky.edu.
Your U-Connect e-mail account is easy to use. You can add or delete folders, keep an address book, etc. The Options icon at the top of the screen can be used to determine your settings and provide mailbox management. You can forward your e-mail to another address, provide for automatic reply etc. Use the Exit icon at the top of the screen to exit and close your account.
If you have difficulties, contact the IT Customer Service Help Desk at 357-1300, ask a member of the Law Library staff for assistance.
The student Bar Association maintains a Listserv for all UK law students. Some faculty also require participation in a class Listserv. To sign up for a UK Listserv:

Do not use a subject. In the body of your message type subscribe list name. The Student Bar Association List Name is UKSBA. [Therefore, your message should read subscribe UKSBA]. Do not use a signature in this message.
You should subscribe to the Student Bar Association Listserv as soon as possible.
You can get a current list of members for any UK Listserv that you belong to by sending an email message to:
listserv@lsv.uky.edu with the single message being REVIEW [insert listname]
To get all the members of the SBA Listserv, send this message:
REVIEW UKSBA
You will receive a list of all members provided you are a member of that list. Remember, don't put a subject in the subject line.
The list members will automatically be sent to you by e-mail.
You MUST have current virus protection software installed on any laptop you are using at the University of Kentucky. Failure to maintain active virus protection can infect the entire University network, and will result in the Law College network being shut down. If you have any questions about virus protection for your laptop, contact the tech department at (859) 257-2367.
